I have seen a difference in her confidence.

Roots and Wings has been great for my daughter Kiara.  I have seen a difference in her confidence.  Before Roots and Wings she was not as outgoing.  She now has the confidence to introduce herself and include herself into activities without knowing the other participates.  She really looks forward to Wednesday because of Roots and Wings.

I believe that Roots and Wings has helped in boosting Natalie’s self-esteem.

My daughter, Natalie, has been a part of Roots and Wings for the past 2 years.  She has had a great time.  I believe that Roots and Wings has helped in boosting Natalie’s self-esteem.  She feels like what she says and how she feels really does matter!  She has learned how important it is, especially for young girls, to work together for a common goal.

These girls do matter, and so does this program!

Roots and Wings has been a beautiful addition to my daughter’s life.  Since beginning the program, my daughter has learned to think more about others, the things she has, the things others do not have, and how her choices and decisions impact others.  When a family is in need, she wants to help and take an active role in making a difference.  I believe that the biggest impact Roots and Wings has had on her is the realization that one person REALLY can make a difference.  It is hard for children to see this, but it has become real to her.  Janelle has become a role model and her words and lessons are valuable to my daughter.  She has learned that communication, kindness, and selflessness starts with her, and every week she sees a little more how this can spread and change the community, and the world.  Janelle and the Roots and Wings program has made a significant impact on how my daughter views herself, her decisions, her friends, her life, and those around her.  I am thankful for Janelle and what she stands for.  These girls do matter, and so does this program!  Thank you Janelle!

Our daughter had always been a bit withdrawn and stand-offish prior to her attending Roots and Wings.

From the proud parents of Sierra Moore,

Our daughter has been a part of Roots and Wings from the very beginning. She started with the original first five girls. The first time we heard about Roots and Wings and met founder – Janelle Draper, we knew we’d found an exciting new program for our daughter, and we were right.

Mrs. Draper has become a valued mentor for our daughter. She instills a practical approach to expanding social skills allowing the girls to express themselves in a way to achieve a higher level of self confidence in the process. She has a way of making an ordinary girl become extraordinary. Our daughter had always been a bit withdrawn and stand-offish prior to her attending Roots and Wings. However, sense being involved with Roots and Wings we’ve noticed a substantial change in our daughter’s attitude and self-confidence. She’s become much more verbal and outgoing. Her level of self-confidence has vastly improved, and we her parents feel much of that is credited to Roots and Wings.

Our daughter is actively involved in many after school programs throughout the week, but if you ask her which one’s her favorite, she always responds,  “Roots and Wings.” She eagerly looks forward to her Tuesday class with Mrs. Draper and is always so excited to share with us what she’s learned in Roots and Wings that day.

We her parents feel very fortunate to have someone like Mrs. Draper in our daughter’s life and would so highly recommend her class for any young girl.

She has learned that SHE MATTERS!!!

Roots and wings has taught Madeline that it is ok to have an opinion, it is ok to do it differently, it is ok to “go outside the lines”.  Roots and Wings has taught Maddie to be Maddie.    Maddie has learned empathy, she has learned that we are all the same, she has learned compassion.

She has learned that SHE MATTERS!!!

She has also learned how to make bad situations good.

Kelsey has become more confident in everything she does since participating in Roots and Wings.  She feels like she can do anything.  She has also learned how to make bad situations good.  She does not let people bring her down.  She has truly become a powerful young lady.  I aspire to be more like her.

Girl Scouts is not the household name that Roots & Wings is!

Averie has thoroughly enjoyed the curriculum you have put forth on behalf of the Roots & Wings mission. It is interesting that she has participated in Girl Scouts for four years and has enjoyed that program immensely; however, Girl Scouts is not the household name that Roots & Wings is! Every week, on Thursdays and beyond, Averie has carried thoughts of things that you have said and done; she has talked about them persistently. I love the Girl Scouts and what that organization stands for, however, the shear “emotional” gravity of the Roots & Wings experience is a beautiful thing that has subtly impacted Averie’s life over the weeks. This impact is the excitement in her voice as she praises the effect of the Roots & Wings program. She proudly goes on and on about sticky’s to mommies, seeds to grow, clay to mold, and…well…I could go on and on!

Ms. Janelle, the reality I see through my daughter and her involvement in your program is that Roots & Wings challenges Averie. It challenges her values and her self-image. In fact, I believe Roots & Wings–alone–has played an overwhelming role in helping Averie to redefine her core beliefs. She has become a person far more enriched than she was prior to participating in your program. Averie’s integrity, while a work in progress, has benefited over the time that she has come to know you and your program for girls. Honestly, Averie has realized a new plateau of spirituality. For this experience, I thank you and I thank God that there has been made accessible such a nurturing program as Roots & Wings.
