Start A Chapter

Starting a Roots and Wings program in your area starts with you! Your desire to help girls confidently claim, “I Matter” will not only impact girls, but it will profoundly change your life as well.

Connection Groups

Individual chapters of Roots and Wings are called Connection Groups. Before your Connection Group meets, each group needs a Site Leader, Co-Leader, 8-16 participants, and a location to meet.

   Site Leaders

Site leaders are the heart of our program. Leaders not only facilitate lessons and activities with the girls, they also serve as mentors and guides to participants in Roots and Wings. Leaders are fun, encouraging, and lead by example. Read the Program Guide to learn more about Roots and Wings. Then visit the Leaders page for more detailed information on this important role. If you would like to be considered for a Site Leader position, download the Site Leader Guidelines. Review, sign and return the document, along with a copy of your driver’s license. This information can be scanned and e-mailed to [email protected] or mailed to Foundation to Fly, Inc. 6775 Grand Magnolia Drive, Sugar Hill, GA 30518.

Co-Leader

Co-Leaders are equally positive role models for the girls in Roots and Wings and serve as support to the Site Leader. Co-Leaders help to facilitate lessons and lead in the event that the Site Leader is not able to attend. As a team, they can lean on one another to provide the best experience for the girls in their program. If you are a dedicated teacher, parent, coach or member of the community and would like to be considered for a Co-Leader position, review the Co-Leader Guidelines  and visit the Leaders page for more information.

Meeting Locations

Groups most often meet in elementary schools; however, it is possible to meet in youth centers, churches, or other public facilities based upon the needs of the group. Once leaders are selected, information and support is provided to secure the meeting location. Before training is scheduled and access to the Leader Login portion of the website is available, leaders must be approved and a location must be secured.
