Leaders

Leaders are selected to join an elite team of women dedicated to helping girls grow into strong, self-assured leaders who, because of their understanding of the impact of their decisions, can boldly claim, “I Matter!”

Each leader becomes a part of the Foundation to Fly, Inc. family with private access to original lessons, ongoing training, and support to make a profound difference in the lives of girls, the community, and the world.

Not all candidates are selected for training. In order to best meet the needs of the girls in our program, we look for the following characteristics in our potential leaders:

  • Passion to grow
  • Ability to commit to the 10-month program
  • Desire to learn, share and inspire
  • Willingness to get crafty and play alongside with the girls
  • Innate understanding of people and their feelings
  • Dedication to understand, support and foster growth in each individual girl in the program
  • Enthusiasm to lead and facilitate lessons

If you feel that you are positive role model and possess the qualities required for a Site Leader position, please visit the Site Leader Guidelines for more details. Review, sign and return the document, along with a copy of your driver’s license. This information can be scanned and e-mailed to [email protected] or mailed to Foundation to Fly, Inc. 6775 Grand Magnolia Drive, Sugar Hill, GA 30518.

Become a Site Leader

Becoming involved in the Roots and Wings program will be rewarding beyond your imagination. Every day you will see girls grow as individuals, as a group, and as leaders. You, yourself, will be amazed at how connected you become to the Roots and Wings family and how enriched your own life becomes.

Use the following checklist to support your efforts in starting a Connection Group near you.

  • Familiarize yourself with the Program Guide.
  • Read and sign the Site Leader Guidelines . Return a copy of the signed document to [email protected] or Foundation to Fly, Inc., 6775 Grand Magnolia Drive, Sugar Hill, GA, 30518.
  • Our Program Director will contact you to schedule your phone interview.
  • Consider where you would like your Connection Group to meet and form a list of questions for your interview.

Leader Selection

We at Foundation to Fly, Inc. want to see you succeed! Once your paperwork is received, you will be contacted for your initial interview with a Program Director. We would love to speak with you to ensure leaders are not only able to commit to the weekly meetings with the girls, but are aligned with the mission of the program. Once selected as a leader, we will provide you with tools to set up meetings and secure your site location.

Training

Leaders must participate in training in order to begin meeting with participating girls. During training, leaders are provided with secure access to lessons, or “Flight Plans,” and are trained to use them according to the research and philosophy supporting the Roots and Wings(Italics) curriculum.

Become A Co-Leader

Along with the Site Leader, Co-Leaders share the very important role of supporting the Roots and Wings mission and objectives. Co-Leaders are not required to attend each Connection Group; however, in order to build relationships with the girls and the Site Leader, it is expected that the Co-Leader participates in at least 50% of the meetings and communicates with the Site Leader on a weekly basis. This active participation will be in the best interest of the girls and the operation of the program. Co-Leaders also lead the program in the absence of the Site Leader. For more information on becoming a Co-Leader, download and read the Co-Leader guidelines.

Selecting a Co-Leader

Before your Connection Group meets as Roots and Wings, you will want to select a Co-Leader. This adult woman will be your partner and part of your support system throughout the duration of the school year. Considerately choose a dependable and dedicated teacher, parent, coach or friend to assist you. Finally, submit your Chapter Registration information.
